MEASURE A DEVELOPMENT

Prior to being assigned "Measure A" by the elections office in February 2008, work was done under the heading "Measure D Renewal."

The Measure D Renewal process begin in April 2007, when the SBCAG Board of Directors directed staff to proceed with the development of a renewal ballot measure for the November 2008 election.  SBCAG engaged more than fifty public representatives from community organizations in both north and south county to participate in the process of developing a new  Transportation Investment Plan which would define how revenues raised would be spent over the lift of the new measure.  The advisory groups began meeting in July 2007, and over nine months considered the transportation needs and priorities of each region for the next thirty years.  The two advisory committees reached consensus on how  share of the revenues would be expended in their respective parts of the county in March 2008, and they recommended that the SBCAG board approve the Investment Plan.

The SBCAG Board unanimously approved the Plan at its March 20, 2008 meeting for circulation to local agencies for their approval.   All eight city councils and the County Board of Supervisors approved the plan, and it was adopted by the SBCAG Board as part of Ordinance No. 5, and placed on the November 4, 2008 ballot.
